Highfield House
Highfield House provides boutique bed and breakfast accommodation in Launceston, northern Tasmania.
This classic Victorian house, built in 1860, and decorated with iron lace, is secluded by lawns and trees. The accommodation consists of five bedrooms, each with en suite facilities and queen-size beds. You will be welcomed by afternoon tea in the drawing room, where huge windows look onto the lovely garden. Colourful rugs are bright on the polished floorboards, soft music plays in the background and the armchairs and deep sofa are inviting.
On a warm afternoon you can sit on the shady verandah and listen to the birds. Or you can head into the city of Launceston and enjoy shopping, walking in Cataract Gorge and enjoying the parks and museums. You'll have been sustained in the morning by a sumptuous cooked breakfast but take the chance to have a tasty and innovative luncheon dish at one of the many bistros in town.
In the evenings there is a crackling fire in the Highfield drawing room and complimentary sherry and port, before you make for a nearby restaurant. When you return, step out onto the upstairs balcony and enjoy the fresh night air.
