12 Days Western Arthurs Traverse TourLocated in the remote south-west of Tasmania, the Western Arthur's presents a rugged wilderness experience. The 12-day itinerary allows you enough time to do a complete traverse of the range with extra time for side trips and in case of bad weather. The Western Arthurs traverse is described as the most spectacular ridge walk in Australia and as Tasmania's most difficult walk. The range is just 20 kilometres (12.42 miles) long with over 25 major peaks and 30 lakes. Starting at Scott's Peak Dam you will trek via The Port Davey Track, Mount Hayes, Lake Oberon, Mount Pegasus, Haven Lake, Promontory Lake, Lake Rosanne and Cracroft Crossing. You will then return to Scott's Peak Dam via the Arthur's Plains and Junction Creek. This Western Arthur's traverse is an extremely demanding unsupported bushwalk with the possibility of Tasmania's worst weather and conditions. It is open to people with previous unsupported pack carrying experience. Participants would have walked the South Coast Track or equivalent and be confident in difficult geographical and weather situations. Previous hard bushwalking experience is essential. Five Day Frenchmans Cap TourThe rugged south western environment involves mountain scenery with broad, deep valleys, small lakes and tarns. Composed of metamorphic quartzite, the majestic Frenchman's Cap dominates the wild terrain. Walk through pristine rainforests containing Huon pine and a diverse range of endemic plant life. From the summit of Frenchman's Cap, a vista of far-reaching, breathtaking grandeur is experienced. This is a camp based tour, but good huts are available. The tour departs from Launceston and begins with a six hour walk across the Franklin Hills through the Loddon River Valley to Lake Vera before camping. Day two requires an ascent through the forest to the Barron Pass with magnificent views. Passing through a rock-strewn area toward Lake Tahune, if conditions are favourable a quick climb of Frenchman's Cap can follow. Most of day three is spent on the mountain and exploring the south east face. The fourth day involves walking to South Loddon River for an overnight camp. Lunch on the final day is at Franklin River Crossing where transport is waiting. Five Day Heart of the World Heritage TourThis is a gentle walking expedition taking you into the heart of Tasmania's World Heritage Area. You will carry light weight backpacks and explore the central area of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. A transfer from Launceston to the trail head will take you into the heart of the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. The track begins with a steep climb before hitting easier walking through open valleys. The trail takes you across buttongrass plains and myrtle rainforest to your destination beside the Douglas River. Here, a comfortable base camp will be home for the next three nights. Day two involves climbing Tasmania's highest peak, Mount Ossa (1617metres/5305 feet). Weather permitting you will enjoy views spanning across two-thirds of the state. On day three you have the option of climbing another mountain peak or enjoying a meander into the Forth Valley with similar options the following day. An opportunity to climb Pelion West is a challenging but rewarding walk. On the final day, a leisurely walk along the same inward route concludes the tour. Five Day Pine Valley Discovery TourThe Pine Valley tour takes you into the Du Cane Range west of Lake St Clair. Set amongst the highlands of Tasmania, Pine Valley offers unique beauty. Within the valley is The Labyrinth, an area of numerous lakes and tarns and a garden of alpine flora. Experience isolated nature where extended plains give way to pristine rainforest. It is a short walk into the valley after crossing Lake St Clair by ferry. You will carry only light weight packs and set up a base camp from which to explore the area. You will walk through The Labyrinth, past groves of native pine, snow gum, the deciduous beech and a wealth of alpine flowers. Mount Acropolis dominates the northern aspect of the valley. It is a moderate climb to the top but has some of the finest views of any peak across the Cradle Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park. Another walking option is to follow the valley through cool, temperate rainforest. Waterfalls, luxurious mosses and numerous varieties of ferns are in abundance beneath the canopy of trees. Four Day Around Cradle Mountain TourThis walk explores the alpine landscape around Cradle Mountain, including glassy lakes, temperate rainforest and waterfalls. The unique itinerary is one of Craclair's longest running and most popular walks. The Cradle Mountain area is dotted with alpine tarns, lakes, temperate rainforest, waterfalls and sub-alpine terrain. Your walk around Cradle commences with a traverse over Hanson's Peak. From this height you will see the highland peaks of the Walls of Jerusalem National Park. This diverse trip incorporates the best walking opportunities in this area and Craclair's guides will ensure you have ample time to relax and enjoy the highlights. The accommodation is a mix of cosy cabins with hot showers and a wilderness campsite. As a moderate-grade walk this tour includes short walks and lightweight backpacking. You will set off to climb Mount Jerusalem with views of the central highlands referred to as the ‘land of a thousand lakes'. The final two days include a climb of King David's Peak and Mount Opheul before commencing the return walk. Nine Day South Coast Track TourThe South Coast Track takes you through the Southwest National Park World Heritage Area. Accessible only by air or boat, your trek from Melaleuca to Cockle Creek passes through button grass plains, isolated beaches and untouched rainforest. Approximately 80 kilometres (49.7 miles) in length, you will spend nine days exploring headlands, river systems, quiet lagoons and coastal ranges. The generous time frame allows for side trips, a complete rest day or time-out relaxing on an empty beach. Amidst this truly wild area you will discover a cultural landscape with a history of early pioneers and indigenous Australians. You will notice it is now occupied by an abundance of wildlife including wombat's, pademelons and the rare and endangered orange-bellied parrot. Following a spectacular flight from Hobart, your wilderness experience on the south coast will be enhanced through knowledgeable guides who are passionate about the wilderness. A highlight of the trip is the sense of group identity that develops from spending nine days together with a small group and virtually no outside contact.
