Hide-Away Cottage Retreat offers self-contained accommodation near Burnie, on Tasmania’s north west coast. The Cottage is a short drive south of Burnie (eight kilometres), and two hours from Launceston (154 kilometres).
Hide-Away Cottage Retreat is a spacious, two-storey timber cottage, surrounded by two hectares (five acres) of woodland and farmland. The property features polished floorboards, a sunny, open-plan kitchen, living and dining area with a wood heater and a fully-equipped kitchen. Stairs lead from the living area to two loft bedrooms—one queen and one twin—and an upstairs sitting room includes a double sofa bed and child’s cot. There is a separate bathroom with a spa and a separate laundry. Double doors open from the living area to a covered patio which is fringed by gardens and there is a barbecue and children’s play equipment in the backyard.
In Burnie you can see artisans hand crafting fine paper at Creative Paper Tasmania—Australia’s largest hand-made paper mill. Wander through a re-created colonial streetscape at the Pioneer Village Museum, sample gourmet cheeses at the Lactos Tasmanian Cheese Tasting Centre or pick up some fresh local produce at the Burnie Farmers Market.
