Take a guided tour of the historic Woolnorth property in Tasmania’s far north-west.
You explore the 22,000 hectare property on one of the guided tours, taking in the old farm buildings, the wind farm and Cape Grim, where the Bureau of Meteorology has measured the cleanest air in the world.
You can also combine a Woolnorth tour with a Dismal Swamp tour.

Daily ToursThis full-day tour leaves daily from 50 Emmett Street, Smithton, at 9.15am. We suggest a 9am arrival. This is a full day (seven hour) experience and includes morning tea and a lunch. You will see Cape Grim, Woolnorth Point, Cookhouse cottage, the Roaring 40s wind farm. Pick up from local accommodation can be arranged. Half Day TourThis Woolnorth half-day (three hours) tour starts at 10 am, departing from the Roaring 40's Wind Farm entrance (30 minutes/45 kilometres) from Smithton. The tour includes the wind farm, morning tea at the Director's Lodge, Cape Grim and the Woolnorth Homestead area. The tour finishes at 1 pm back at the wind farm entrance. Wind Farm Only TourLocated at Woolnorth, this Roaring 40s Wind Farm tour starts at 10 am at the entrance to the farm about 30 minutes drive/45 kilometres from Smithton. In one hour you have a chance to learn about these amazing wind-powered turbines that stand 60 metres high and each generates 1.75 megawatts of power. Woolnorth and Dismal Swamp TourTour departs at 9.15am for Dismal Swamp, a giant sink hole within a blackwood forest and ancient swamp. The tour then takes you to Preminghana (Mt Cameron West) and on to Woolnorth for lunch at the Directors' Lodge. From there you will visit the Roaring 40s wind farm, Cape Grim and the Woolnorth Homestead area. | |
