Platypus and Penguin Tours lets you discover Tasmania’s platypus and little penguins in their natural environment.
You will be taken to private property to view the elusive platypus where your experienced and knowledgeable guide will provide a full interpretation of their life cycle and breeding habits. You’ll also see ‘Fred’, the largest recorded platypus in Australia.
Following on from the platypus viewing, you’ll be taken back to Stanley for the little penguin viewing at the reserve. You’ll be able to get up close to the penguins as you’re guided through their coastal breeding ground.

Platypus and Penguin Tour - TasmaniaDepart Stanley around one and a half hours prior to dusk and travel through picturesque, lush countryside to private property where the hunt for the elusive platypus takes place. There are five platypus here, including our big male "Fred", the largest recorded platypus in Australia, measuring around half a metre in length. The platypus are viewed in their own natural environment and your experienced and knowledgeable guide will give the full interpretation of the habits and breeding cycle of these fascinating and elusive monotremes. On dark guests will travel back to Stanley to the Reserve to view the little penguins. Get up close and personal with these delightful little creatures as they make their way back to their nesting ground, high on the foreshore of the reserve.
