Miners Cottage - No 16
The Miners Cottage offers self-contained accommodation at Rosebery in Tasmania’s west. Rosebery is 90 minutes south west of Burnie (125 kilometres/78 miles) and five hours north west of Hobart (335 kilometres/208 miles).
The two-bedroom Miners Cottage accommodates up to six guests with features including a fully-equipped kitchen stocked with provisions for a cooked or continental breakfast. The living room has a cosy log fire and electric heating, a television and VCR and there is a separate bathroom and laundry.
Rosebery is a mining town, settled in the late 1800s when rich deposits of gold, lead and zinc were discovered at Mount Black. You can take a surface tour of the town’s working zinc mine to gain an insight into modern mining practises. Visit Montezuma Falls (113 metres/370 feet) - Tasmania’s highest waterfall - or walk to the top of Mount Read (1,588 metres/5,210 feet) for stunning views of the area. Strahan is an hour’s drive (70 kilometres/43 miles) south west of Rosebery. Here you can take a Gordon River cruise, soar high above Tasmania’s World Heritage Wilderness area on a scenic flight or relax in a waterfront restaurant or cafe.
