Strahan Woodworks
The Strahan Woodworks is a timber workshop and gallery at Strahan on Tasmania’s west coast. Strahan is a four-and-a-half hour drive from Hobart (298 kilometres) and Launceston (290 kilometres).
Established in 1990 and linked to the Morrison’s Huon Pine Sawmill, Strahan Woodworks specialises in work crafted from Huon pine - one of the world’s rarest timbers. Because of the non-renewable nature of this timber, Strahan Woodworks uses only reclaimed and salvaged wood for its products. You can choose from the range of attractive and functional Huon pine items – including kitchen and home wares - in the Strahan Woodworks shop.
You can also browse the collection of work by established Tasmanian artists in the Gallery. The Gallery has a focus on work that expresses the essence of Tasmania’s rich culture and natural beauty. Artists to have exhibited here include Melanie Honor Clarke, one of Tasmania’s top artistic jewellers whose work is also represented in the collection of HRH Crown Princess Mary of Denmark; acclaimed sculptor Eve Howard; and award-winning Tasmanian Aboriginal Artist Mick Q.
