Lake Pieman
Lake Pieman is a Hydro Tasmania lake near Rosebery in Tasmania’s west. Rosebery is a mining town, five hours’ drive (335 kilometres/208 miles) north west of Hobart, and ninety minutes south of Burnie (125 kilometres/77 miles).
Lake Pieman lies to the west of Rosebery and, like all Hydro Tasmania lakes, is stocked with plump trout. You can launch your boat at a number of boat ramps on the Lake and spend the day fishing, or enjoy a picnic or barbecue on the shore. You can also explore the Pieman River from the water, aboard a cruise which departs from the township of Corinna.
Rosebery has a range of accommodation from camping to quality motels, hotels and guests houses. Enjoy a meal or snack at a local café or pub, or join a coach tour to visit Montezuma Falls – at 113 metres (370 feet), the highest waterfall in Tasmania.
You will need a licence to fish for trout in Tasmania’s lakes. A free brochure - ‘Fishing Code for Anglers’ is available from licence-selling agents and the Inland Fisheries Commission.
