Hunt s Folly is the perfect setting for a relaxing break in a fully renovated charming historic cottage in a small private vineyard. The cottage was one of the first brick buildings constructed in the town in 1862. It was the home of Charles Dicker, town clerk, photographer and prominent local identity, before becoming the mining surveyor s office and residence in the 1880 s.
The last owner planted over 200 shiraz vines which are a visual delight through the seasons and a wine drinker s dream.
It is situated in the Goldfields Region of Central Victoria, just 2 hours drive from Melbourne and 20 minutes from Maldon.
Accommodation
The cottage provides self contained accommodation for up to 4 people with tastefully furnished queen and twin bedrooms. Each has electric panel heaters and electric blankets on all beds.
Curl up with a book in front of the open fire in the formal lounge room. Or relax in the air conditioned family room with the TV, DVD/Video or assorted board games.
There is a fully equipped kitchen for those who like to prepare their own meals and a separate dining room. Or eat alfresco on the wide verandah overlooking the vineyard and garden. There is also a BBQ provided.
Modern, heated bathroom with shower and separate toilet. External laundry facilities.
All linen and towels provided.
Dunolly
Dunolly is ideally situated 45 minutes from Bendigo and Castlemaine and 20 minutes from Maryborough. The town which at the height of the Gold Rush in the 1860 s accommodated up to 35,000 diggers is now home to around 650 people. Dunolly contains many magnificent historic buildings, located along Broadway and dotted throughout the town.
The town has a hotel, bakery, butcher, fish and chip shop, small supermarket, cafes and more. Internet is also available at the Rural Transaction Centre.
