Barfold Estate
Barfold Estate is located in the south west corner of the Heathcote region and is the most southern in the region. Please visit us first if you are journeying up from Melbourne.
Sandra and Craig Aitken make hand crafted estate grown wines on their rustic farm, located midway between Heathcote and Kyneton. Fruit from vines managed to low yields, is hand plunged in small fermenters to produce wines of intense colours and flavours.
Established in 1998, the vineyard is planted to shiraz and a small quantity of cabernet sauvignon. A further planting of viognier is also planned.
The first release was Barfold Estate 2002 Heathcote shiraz which won three medals including gold at the Ballarat Wine Show.
Their 2003 and 2004 shiraz wines have been rated at 93 points in James Haliday's Wine Companion and the vineyard/winery has achieved 4 1/2 star rating. Wines available for purchase and tasting:
