Buffalo Motel and Country Reteat offers 20 renovated rooms situated on 5 acres of garden at the foot of Mount Buffalo.and beside the Ovens River. Beautiful English maples and tall trees dot the grounds offering shady retreats in summer and glorious colours in Spring and Autumn.
The central recreation and dining room facilities provide cosy spaces for celebrating birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and other special events. The open fireplace is a drawcard for guests in winter when they meet to enjoy cheese and wine after dinner and maybe a few rounds of cards. Buffalo Motel appeals to Probus and other special interest groups or simply friends coming together from neighbouring States such as South Australia, Victoria and the ACT to enjoy the best of what the High Country offers- clean fresh air, gourmet local produce and wines from adjoining vineyards. Wide open spaces at the back of the motel leads to the edge of the Ovens River. This provides a huge playground for younger guests. They can kick a ball or play team games without disturbing other guests staying at the motel.
Buffalo Motel and Country Retreat is centrally located on the Great Alpine Road with easy access to Bright (6 minutes by car), Mount Buffalo (45 minutes), Beechworth (40 minutes), Mount Hotham (60 minutes), Falls Creek (60 minutes) and the Milawa gourmet food and wine region is only 40 minutes away.
Buffalo Motel guests can enjoy a freshly cooked country breakfast in the Dining Room. On-site BBQ facilities allow guests to cook their own lunches or dinners which they would often enjoy on the large deck with magnificent views of Mount Buffalo and the Ovens River. Finally, new posturepeadic beds and fine linen installed in our climate-controlled rooms ensure a good night's sleep is enjoyed by all our guests.
