Old Post Office Seymour -Fine Art Gallery & Licensed Restaurant
Fine Art, Good Food, Local Wine and an historic experience are combined to create a warm welcome at the Old Post Office Seymour.
The Post Office with postmasters residence has seen many changes since it was built in 1872. Now lovingly restored, it has since 1992, been transformed into a multi-roomed Fine Art Gallery with a fully Licensed Restaurant.
This majestic old building and its gardens are home to owners Louise Barling and Garry Broderick.
The Gallery holds three major painting exhibitions a year, each has a solo in the Main Gallery.
The exhibitions and dates for 2008 are: "Annual Autumn Art Show" - 6th April to 11th May 2008 - Solo Artist Richard Chamerski. "August Occasion" - 3rd August to 21st September 2008 - Solo Artist Agnes Szetey. "Summer Art" - 30th November 2008 to Australia Day 2009 - Group Exhibition. Throughout the year a constantly changing group exhibition is displayed throughout the multi-roomed exhibition space. The quality of work is only surpassed by the variety offered.
Traditional to contemporary paintings, in all mediums, covering most subjects, are hung as if in a home and are lit buy numerous chandeliers hung from the four metre ornate ceilings.
Room after room has period furniture displaying a diverse range of individual quality Australian-made craft. Artglass, wildlife sculpture, pottery, woodwork, jewellery, silk, metalwork and sculpture are all on show. The list of exhibiting artists is constantly expanding and diversifying providing something for every budget and taste.
The restaurant, which has an open fire and is centrally located, encourages the visitor to sit and enjoy the wonderful ambience, view the art and craft or browse thus creating a relaxed elegant atmosphere.
The experience that is the Old Post Office Seymour has been expanded and enhanced by the rose garden area with seating creating a place to relax.
The Old Post Office Seymour offers something different, if not unique, that showcases all that is truly Australian.
