The Old Orchard Winery
Our vineyard in the City of Knox is one of the best kept secrets in Australia. First planted in 1981 it has never been open to the public until we converted an old "rustic" shed into a Cellar Door in December 2005. Our vines are now producing some of the best grapes available for high quality wines. We have five varieties - all over 25 years old.
Our current vintages are our 2008 Chardonnay. This wine truly represents this variety and our customers tell us it's one of the best they have ever tasted.
We have four reds. Our 2007 Merlot - the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon - the 2005 Shiraz and our 2004 Cabernet Franc and we have a blend of the four called our Boronia Blend. This blend is 40% Cabernet Franc and 20% each of the other three.
Our 2007 Sauvignon Blanc and 2006 Pinot Noir are from our small plot in Eildon and our Petite Verdot is from our small plot in Avoca. Our Pinot Rose is made from our Eildon grapes.
We have just released our 2007 Sparkling Merlot. This fantastic bubbly is 90% Merlot and 10% Shiraz. This is really worth a tasting so come up and try it as soon as possible.
We have a couple of "buy-ins" - a Sweet White made from the Muscat of Alexandria grape in North Victoria and a Hot Chilli Wine from Disaster Bay.
This wine list rounds our portfolio of wines that our customers think are amongst some of the very best they have tasted. We know this is a big claim - but it's what our customers are saying.
