Contemporary Heritage
Walker St Gallery was established in 1986, and has developed into an important forum for much of the cultural and artistic expression within the city.
The gallery holds 11 exhibitions per year and is an integral part of the Dandenong Community Arts Centre, which comprises a studio, black box performance space and meeting rooms.
Heritage Hill offers an annual program of temporary exhibitions on a wide range of historic and contemporary topics. Heritage Hill houses the Greater Dandenong Oral History Collection. Visitors have the opportunity to learn more about the community through the personal stories of residents who migrated from Europe, found work and made their homes in the district. Beautiful gardens surround the buildings and provide a peaceful environment in which to relax in the heart of a bustling city.
