Eltham Garden Retreat was established in 1997. Comprising a three roomed mud brick cottage and a loft, bothl with garden access, this property sits in a beautiful water wise garden. Designed by noted landscaper Gordon Ford, the garden features ponds and waterfalls and planting in the natural style.
In a secluded setting you are assured of privacy and solitude, birdsong and a friendly atmosphere with full bed and breakfast service.
The cottages and loft are furnished with high quality, natural materials with all amenities, including fully equipped kitchens in the cottages. The Retreat has a private courtyard with waterfall, The Studio has a small courtyard and private drive and The Loft has a private upstairs balcony with hydronic heating and air-conditioning.
This accommodation is close to the region's famed Yarra Valley wineries, award winning restaurants (including Mercer's), the Museum of Modern Art at Heide and the Montsalvat Artist's community which has a rich programme of events throughout the year.
Within walking distance is the beautiful Yarra River with walking tracks and access to swimming areas at Griffith's Park and Laughing Waters.
The garden attached to the Eltham Garden Retreat has been in the Australian Open Garden Scheme since its inception in 1988 and is of great interest to garden designers and those interested in drought resistant planting.
The entire garden is at the disposal of guests who may wander at their leisure or sit by the ponds and waterfalls.
