Henkell Vineyards
At HENKELL VINEYARDS you will find one of the oldest family traditions of wines (stretching back to the early 1830's even before Melbourne was settled).
Our activities in the Yarra Valley may only date back a mere 25 years, however the Henkell family has a history in wines in Germany's Rhine Valley going back many generations.
In August 1980, whilst staying at the RACV Country Club in Healesville, with our father, Otto Henkell (II) we decided to make the Yarra Valley the home of a new Australian wine operation.
Throughout all the Henkell generations there has been a passion to combine the arts with the enjoyment of fine wines and food. At our Cellar Door you will find pictures of the late 19th century when Otto Henkell (I) engaged famous artists to advertise his wine.
Today, concerts at HENKELL VINEYARDS continue this tradition. At HENKELL VINEYARDS we present some of the nations best music artists in an environment that pleasures all the senses.
HENKELL VINEYARDS is located in the Yarra Valley, approximately 55 kilometres from Melbourne's CBD and boasts approximately 24 hectares of wines. The varieties grown are: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon.
In normal years a harvest of between 200 and 250 tons of grapes can be expected. This volume of grapes is then transformed into more than 220,000 bottles of premium wine.
