Greenough Leaning Trees
The Greenough Leaning Trees are scattered throughout the Shire of Greenough. This bizarre natural phenomenon is caused by the airborne salt content blown in with the winds off the Indian Ocean. The tree trunks lie horizontal to the ground and have become somewhat of an icon for the area.
Although most of the trees are located on private property you will not be able to miss them as you drive along the Brand Highway into Greenough town centre. There are opportunities for you to pull over on the roadside to capture these unique trees with a photograph.
Whilst in the area, make sure to continue on into Greenough to visit Australia’s best preserved nineteenth century town. Accommodation is available if you would like to stay and explore the area.
Greenough is just a four and a half hour drive north of Perth.
