Hitching Rail, Commemorative Telegraph Pole and Horse Watering Trough

The Hitching Rail dates from the 1920s. Horses were tied by their bridles to the rings attached to upright railway line.

The Telegraph pole commemorates the development of the Perth to Southern Cross telegraph service that arrived at the old town site north of Merredin Peak on the 4 February 1892.

The Water Trough circa 1930s was one of 500 horse and dog troughs built throughout Australia as a result of the will of George Bills who made a fortune making wire mattresses.
