Golden Quest Discovery Trail

For those of you who enjoy an Australian Outback adventure, the Golden Quest Discovery Trail is an ideal break for all ages. The 965 kilometre adventure is complete experience in one of the world's most famous gold producing regions. The trail is fully explained in a comprehensive easy-to-use guidebook with an audio commentary on two compact discs. The guidebook will aid in the planning of your journey with its helpful information on travel distances, maps, and safety guidelines. You may purchase the guidebook at bookshops and visitor centres in the Goldfields region.

There are 25 official sites on the trail and each of the attractions are explained through the audio commentary. Allow a minimum of three full days and two nights to fully appreciate what the trail has to offer. Four days would be preferable.

The trail encompasses Coolgardie, and Kalgoorlie-Boulder, extending north to Menzies, Kookynie, Gwalia, Leonora and Laverton. Experience architectural and engineering gems, Aboriginal history, natural history, and a host of remarkable characters.

You can experience the trail at any time of the year. The busiest period is from August to November due to events such as the Kalgoorlie-Boulder Racing Round and accommodation often becomes fully booked. Four wheel drives are recommended for both safety and comfort reasons.

Access to one of the points on the Trail - 'Windarra’ may be limited or temporarily unavailable due to current mining activity – updates are available on www.goldenquesttrail.com website.
