Merredin Railway Water Tower

The Merredin Railway Water Tower is a fifteen metre high tower that guides visitors into the rural town of Merredin. Located in Pioneer Park, the 1893 tower held the water that was used to operate steam locomotives for more than 60 years.

Visit the Military museum next to the tower to see Western Australia’s largest collection of military vehicles and equipment.

Head back into the town centre to discover the fascinating Merredin Railway Museum. Step back in time in this beautifully restored station and envisage life in the 1890s. Containing an extensive collection of railway memorabilia including a beautifully preserved 1897 steam engine, the museum will appeal to all train enthusiasts.

Merredin is also home to several other charming historic buildings including the town hall and Cummins Theatre. Take a walk around the town admiring the streetscapes. Alternatively enjoy a 75 minute walk along the Merredin Peak Heritage Trail for magnificent views of the countryside. The farming town of Merredin is a three hour drive east of Perth.
