No 8 Pumping Station Coolgardie
Perhaps the most unusual, and certainly one of the most evocative properties invested in the National Trust is the old Number Eight steam operated pumping station at Dedari, 28 kilometres south of Coolgardie.
For 66 years this was a vital link in C.Y. O'Connor's brilliantly designed Goldfields water scheme. Since 1969 the old steam pumping station has been superceded by diesel powered plant. The old building and its furnaces, boilers and pumps are currently being restored by the national trust in cooperation with the Public Works Department.
