Gribble Creek Walk and Cycle Way
Gribble Creek Walk and Cycle Way passes through the Kalgoorlie Arboretum. A high profile park set on 26.5 hectares of land on Hawkins Street, at the north-western fringe of the city.
The Arboretum was established in 1954 the Forest Department. Its aim was to establish a living museum and trial area of representative tree species of the semi-arid zone and adjacent desert areas. The Arboretum was also intended to serve as an aesthetic area for public recreation and education.
Its present day features include a wide variety of indigenous flora, including more than 60 species of planted trees, a remnant woodland area, 65 observed bird species, interpretive walktrails, recreation facilities on a grassed area under the shade of river gums (Eucalyptus camaldulensis), and a small dam that attracts waterbirds.
