Zebra Rock Gallery
Visit the Zebra Rock Gallery to see a range of unique items made from the distinctive reddish-brown and white banded ornamental siltstone called Zebra Rock, found only in the East Kimberley. Watch as the artists craft the rock into large and small souvenir items available for purchase.
Walk along the gallery’s jetty to hand feed the catfish that eagerly await your arrival. Enjoy a refreshing cool drink in the shady gardens and take your time to check out the vast array of pieces on display.
Zebra Rock got its name from the interesting stripes banded through the rock, which is believed to be over 600 million years old. The attractive rock is unique to the Kimberley Region. First discovered in 1924, some of the original sites where the rock was mined are now submerged by Lake Argyle, which is the biggest man made lake in Australia.
Zebra Rock Gallery is located on the upper Ord River, twenty minutes from the town centre of Kununurra. Kununurra is a three hour flight north of Perth.
