Trial Tree
The Trial Tree is located along a bush trail in the Bastion Range. This is a sacred Aboriginal site.
It was believed by the Aborigines that if a person did not die of natural causes, when the person died, the body was placed in the trial tree. Rocks were put around the base and each rock was given a name of a person related to the deceased. When the body started to decompose the first fats that would drip down went on one of the rocks. It is believed the person whose name was given to this rock was responsible for the death and was banished from the tribe.
