Donnelly River Holiday Village
Originally a timber town, Donnelly River Holiday Village is now a unique and popular holiday destination 300 kilometres south of Perth in the Southern Forests close to Manjimup, Bridgetown and Nannup.
The secluded and picturesque village, preserved in its entirety, is nestled in tall timbered State karri forest and provides a fascinating picture into the simpler and uncomplicated life in the fifties.
The 36 mill workers cottages have been upgraded to affordable comfortable self contained accommodation sleeping up to four, eight or twelve people, each with own bedrooms, sitting room (with log fire), kitchen and bathroom and a verandah to relax upon. Bring your own linen or you can hire if necessary.
The isolation of the village and the pristine environment makes it both a tranquil retreat for couples, and an ideal spot for family holidays with children free to play and explore safely outside. Schools and groups are also most welcome.
A feature of the village, much loved by locals and overseas visitors alike, is the very tame wildlife with kangaroos, emus, parrots and kookaburras visiting the cottages to be fed. Possums, bandicoots, chuditchs and quokkas, among others are also sighted in the village from time to time and the bird life is prolific with over 70 species sighted in the village and forest surround.
Village facilities include an onsite general store, laundry, barbeques, playground, flying fox, games room, tennis courts, basketball court and volleyball. A tree lined swimming lake and a hall with coolroom and cooking facilities complete the amenities.
There are many scenic bushwalks in the area, including the Bibbulmun Track that goes right through the village. Centrally located, the village is an ideal base from which to explore the beauty of the South West with comfortable day trips to the many attractions of Margaret River, Busselton, Pemberton, the Tree Top Walk, Albany and the many national parks.
Enjoy a nature based holiday while experiencing a step back in time to the village atmosphere of a timber town in the South West.
