Pentland Alpaca Stud and Tourist Farm
Pentland Alpaca Stud & Animal Farm Denmark is a hands-on animal farm and wildlife park where you can pat, cuddle and feed a huge range of friendly and interesting animals.
The farm opened in 1990 and along with 70 alpacas (and babies) there are koalas, kangaroos, rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, horses, donkeys, camels, deer, emus and aviary birds. Meet Tyson the North American Bison, Tess and King Lear the Scottish Highland cattle, Muriel the pig, Foxy-loxy and Jox the foxes, Ernee the dingo and many more!
Visitors can walk amongst and hand feed the gentle alpacas - domestic animals from South America. As they breed all year round there are usually new babies on view.
Visitors are welcome to pat our friendly koalas. The best time to see them wide awake is feeding time at 1000.
We hand-raise two or three orphaned kangaroo joeys each year and depending on their age they are either tucked up in their sleeping bag in the shop or roaming freely around the farm. They get their bottle at 1500 daily along with the other farm babies – usually calves, goats, lambs and piglets.
We welcome group bookings and are very popular with coach tours, social groups, school excursions and overseas tourists.
Our huge craft gallery features ceramics and art by Wendy Binks plus other souvenir items. Our Alpaca boutique has alpaca fleece and yarn and hundreds of exquisite alpaca garments from beanies to jumpers.
Our kiosk is open all year with the café open during school holidays and for group bookings. There is also a shady picnic area with gas barbeques. There are lovely gardens to walk amongst, lawns to relax on and forest and ocean views.
Our dams are stocked with rainbow trout – bring your own rod or hire one from us and try your luck!
