Old Court House Complex

Built in 1854-1856 and extended in 1873, the building has been utilised as a courtroom, gaol cells, stable, post office and bond store (for customs).
The Complex was vacated by the Police Department in 1976 and shortly thereafter the Busselton Arts Council assumed management of the building.

From 1976-1999, the voluntary committee and many members worked hard to have this fine group of colonial legal enforcement and administration buildings preserved and put to use as a community arts centre. The historic building has been imaginatively recycled and whilst the original gaol cells remain; other parts of the building are used as a gallery and cafe.

The Shire of Busselton assumed management in 1999, and now the Complex houses a number of professional craftspeople, many community arts and crafts groups, a gallery with a changing programme of exhibitions, administration and information centre and a sales area that offers the very best craftswork available in the district.

Touring groups are most welcome but prior bookings are essential.
