Windy Harbour and Salmon Beach
Windy Harbour is a coastal settlement south of Northcliffe and is the only coastal site in the area accessible by two wheel drive vehicle. The road to the settlement is bitumenised and crosses the D'Entrecasteau National Park to the coast. The road out to Salmon Beach is gravel but has been upgraded in 1996 to make it more friendly to conventional vehicles.
There are spectacular views from the lighthouse and there are safe swimming beaches and a boat ramp at Windy Harbour and apart from fishing, Salmon Beach is a popular spot for surfers, swimmers and beach walkers.
There is a settlement of private huts with a camping ground at Windy Harbour with showers, solar heated as there is no power supply. Supplies can be bought at Northcliffe 27 kilometres or 20 minutes away, so you should be sure to take everything required for your stay.
