Birding South West2
Birding South West conducts guided bird watching tours in the South West of Western Australia, focusing on the many endemic species of the region.
Tours range from half day "Birdwatching Break" and full day "Birdwatching Bonanza" from Pemberton, Manjimup and Bridgetown right through to 16 day fully accommodated excursions that include such diverse habitats as the Goldfields and the islands of the Recherche Archipelago. Tailor made specialty tours are also designed and conducted for other parts of Australia and are available on request.
For full and half day tours guests are collected from their lodgings and taken to a number of local hotspots where host and guide, Peter Taylor, showcases the wonderful avifauna of Australia’s South West.
The South West region of Western Australia is home to more than 250 bird species, 13 of which, including five parrots and cockatoos, are endemic to the South West, that is they are found nowhere else in the world. Other notable endemics usually seen on the tours include the stunningly beautiful Red-eared Firetail, the Red-winged Fairy-wren and the White-breasted Robin.
All tours include morning tea and for the full day tours which feature a trip out to the Ramsar listed Lake Muir wetlands, lunch is also provided.
