Alkimos Wreck
See the haunted Alkimos Wreck from the coastline near Yanchep, just north of Perth.
The wreck of the Greek freighter the Alkimos lies off Eglington Rocks. The ship ran aground in the 1960s on a notoriously hazardous offshore reef. The wreck is visible from the coastline where virtually untouched beaches are accessible by a four wheel drive track.
The Alkimos is said to be haunted by an old seaman, dressed in oilskins who patrols the deck and prevents any attempts at salvaging the wreck.
The ill-fated freighter seemed jinxed from the start and endured many minor accidents, changes in ownership, mysterious fires, and reports of ghostly sightings before it came to rest near Yanchep.
The surrounding area features sand dunes and many native plants.
Yanchep is about a 45 minute drive north of Perth.
