The Perth Mint

Where in the world can visitors handle more than $225,000 worth of gold; see molten gold being poured to form a gleaming six kilogram gold bar; view Australia's largest collection of natural gold nuggets; mint and engrave their own personalised medallion; discover the value of their weight in gold; and have the opportunity to purchase precious metal coins, bullion, nuggets, exquisite jewellery and quality souvenirs all in the one location?

The answer is The Perth Mint. Visitors can now see what goes on behind the majestic wrought iron gates that were locked for more than 90 years.

The Perth Mint was established in 1899 as a branch of the British Royal Mint to refine gold from Western Australia's goldfields and to strike gold sovereign coins. Coining still continues on the premises. Through special viewing windows, visitors can watch as millions of dollars worth of precious metals are converted to beautifully designed and crafted coins and medallions, for sale around the world.

One of the state's most historic buildings, and one of the world's oldest Mints still operating from its original premises, The Perth Mint is a unique venue for group and independent tours.

Also an exclusive function venue for conference and incentive groups and the Mint is the perfect place to purchase unique corporate gifts.

On offer is an exquisite range of jewellery including exclsively designed pieces featuring Kalgoorlie Gold, South Sea Pearls and Argyle Diamonds.

If you like gold, you will love The Perth Mint.
