Perry Lakes

Perry Lakes reserve is located seven kilomeres west of the Perth central business district. The reserve covers an area of 80 hectares and includes two large lakes, East Lake and West Lake which cover 12.6 hectares.

The lakes are an important feeding and breeding habitat for waterbirds (over 20 different species), tortoises and frogs and it is a drought refuge when other wetlands dry up during the summer months.

The Perry Lakes Stadium and associated sporting tracks and facilities were constructed for the 1962 Commonwealth Games. It was at this time that the lakes were dredged to permanently hold water.
