Whiteman Park
Whiteman Park near Perth’s Swan Valley is a perfect bushland escape from the city.
Here you can enjoy a barbecue or picnic, go bushwalking and cycling, and take in some of the local attractions including an antique display, Transport Museum, Tractor Museum, shops and a café.
The kids will love the historic tram and train ride which tours through a large slice of the park.
Nearly half of its 4,300 hectares is designated as a conservation reserve. Here, there are woodlands of Marri, Jarrah and Banksia trees and Melaleuca wetlands. It’s a great place for bird watching with more than 100 species of birds found in the park.
Bennett Brook and Mussel Pool provide idyllic picnic spots.
Whiteman Park was named after a local identity whose land was acquired by the Government to protect a major underground drinking water source supplying Perth.
Whiteman Park is about a half an hour’s drive from Perth.
