Warmun (Turkey Creek) is close to one of the natural wonders of the world, the spectacular Purnululu (Bungle Bungle) National Park. Exhilarating helicopter flights depart from Warmun over the Bungle Bungle. One day and two day tours depart from Warmun to this unique region.
Turkey Creek's community started in the 1800s as a water hole (pub). It consisted of a dwelling in which beer was cooled by packing beer bottles in a crate filled with straw which was then covered by wet sack and placed in a breezy spot until the beer became 'Kimberley Cool'. Kimberley cool beer quenched the thirst of many a weary cattleman and miner travelling between Wyndham and Halls Creek.
Now you can visit The Warmun Art Centre which provides artists with economic independence and the opportunity to share their Gija culture and country with visitors. The Centre, located in the original Turkey Creek Post Office, operates as a studio and sales/exhibition space for the artists who draw on Ngarrangkarni (Dreaming) stories as well as contemporary events and life experiences in creating their art work.
