Harvey, Western AustraliaHarvey lies in the heart of dairy country about one and a half hours drive south west of Perth. Nestled on fertile, irrigated plains beneath the rolling foothills of the Darling Range and approximately 20 kilometres from the coast, this small town is surrounded by green pastures and in spring comes alive with colour as wildflowers cover the ground.

This thriving town located on the Harvey River, has also developed a fine reputation for its high quality orange juice, beef and increasingly, its wine. Citrus orchards and viticulture flourish around the town, Harvey’s intensive dairy farming provides the bulk of Western Australia’s milk supply.

Visitors can explore stunning Jarrah forest in the Harvey region, the Harvey Dam is a scenic spot and has an amphitheatre, boardwalk and walking trails, playground, barbecue facilities and a boat launch area, nearby is the Bibbulmun Track, a world class 1000 kilometre waling trail.

Harvey was home to renowned children’s author May Gibbs, creator of Snugglepot and Cuddlepie, and the town features a replica of the 1880’s home where she lived, called Stirlings Cottage.
