Bridge to stateliness
Northam, a terminus in the 1890s for the goldfields railway, is famed for its white swans and for its pedestrian suspension bridge across the Avon River, the longest in Australia. Buckland Historic House, Western Australia's stateliest home, is one of Australia's finest Victorian colonial homesteads.
Located just over an hours drive from Perth on the Great Eastern Highway, Northam makes a perfect day trip, weekender or base from which to explore the Avon Valley.
